By far the best Italian grocery store, Salumeria Italiana sells imported salami, Prosciutto di Parma, and every cut of pasta imaginable. The flavor-packed olives are cured in brine for months, and the best selection of cheese is available every Friday, when the shipment arrives from Italy. There’s also Sicilian sea salt, basil and sundried tomato pesto and tomato sauce made with capers and chili peppers. The olive oils range from light yellow to dark green, and special slipper-shaped ciabatta bread is available on Saturday. Counter clerks encourage tasting before buying, so you’re sure to be pleased with your purchase.
